BIO

Laura Nave Lorenzen grew up in Kingsville, TX where her parents own and run a sawmill and woodworking business. She completed her BFA in ceramics from University of North Texas in 2014 and MFA from Wichita State University in 2018. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally including; Strictly Functional Pottery National, Medalta, and The Wichita National. Laura has participated in studio assistantships at Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts and Watershed Center for the Ceramic Arts. She has been a long term artist in residence at both Cobb Mountain Art and Ecology and AMOCA Ceramics Studios in Pomona, CA. When covid hit she took a break from making ceramic work and did trail building and maintenance across the American southwest with ACE, American Conservation Experience, a branch of Americorps, and has completed a couple seasons of wildland fire and trail work with the US Forest Service in Montana. Currently Laura resides in Tucson with her wonderful husband Nico and dog Tulip. She is slowly making things from found lumber in alleys, knitting, sewing, cooking, digging local clay to make pots, doing the occasional pit firing, and loving the Sonoran desert.
